2025: Year in Review
Dec 22, 2025

Every update we shipped this year was shaped by you, the group leads, the fantasy commissioners, the event hosts, the coaches, and the people who keep their social circles connected. From group chats lighting up with celebrity engagement news to team coordination in the field, unsolicited dog photos, and the long, winding plans that finally got everyone to touch grass, you brought GroupMe to life every single day.
Before we step into 2026, we want to pause and reflect. These past twelve months marked a standout chapter in GroupMe’s history: our 15th year anniversary, all‑time usage highs, record‑breaking event RSVPs and profile views, and a wave of releases that made GroupMe more expressive than ever.
This year was full of milestones, but none bigger than our 15th Anniversary of GroupMe! GroupMe's inception was right alongside Justin Beiber's "Baby", Minecraft entered beta, the controversial Lost finale, and the iPad was launched.
Touching grass was in its prime. Over 50 million people RSVP'd to GroupMe events!
GroupMe Profiles took to new heights with over 1.2 BILLION profile views this year alone! Major shout to the Dog loving, coffee fueled fitness enthusiasts out there!
Bigger groups, bigger moments. You can now invite the whole neighborhood (literally). GroupMe groups support 10,000+ members and 25 Topics.
All the feels, all the emojis. React the way you want with the entire emoji library PLUS some GroupMe Originals

💙 Community Builds Community
We loved seeing how our GroupMe community continues to foster engagement and touch grass moments with their groups. It's always a thrill to see the group get out of the group chat!

East Coast Club
Reese moved to Charleston after graduating college and quickly realized how isolating post‑grad life could feel. To build connection and community, she launched East Coast Club, a space for post‑grad women to meet and form friendships.
Within months, the community expanded from a handful of women to more than 700 active GroupMe members. Today, GroupMe powers the club’s momentum, enabling everything from beach picnics to coffee meetups and keeping members connected between events. Read more here

Community Infused Roadmap
And lastly, we want to give a special shout‑out to the communities who continue to champion GroupMe and inspire the features we build. As we celebrate 15 years, we know the app is where it is today because of this vibrant, passionate community. Your stories, feedback, and everyday experiences help us shape the roadmap and make GroupMe better for everyone.
Harvard Undergrad Consulting Group x GroupMe
This past semester we had the pleasure to work with a HUCG student group to deep dive into the GroupMe experience for their semester project. The student team spoke with 100s of college and high school students and analyzed the entire end to end experience in GroupMe. We've already implemented some of their insights and are excited to continue in 2026!

GroupMe Insiders
This year, our GroupMe Insider community grew to more than 4,000 members, a passionate group of power users who champion GroupMe every day.
